Do
you have a passion for outdoor adventure photography and wish
to make money, possibly a living at it? Passion and lifestyle
are the reason many get into professional photography. Many photographers have fabulous and very marketable
images, but no idea how to get them to market, let alone, into a
clients publication. The business is competitive and the sooner
you learn how to shoot for the market, who buys your
photography, the sooner you can realized that dream. But if you have no experience, where do you start?
The Adventure Sports
Stock Photo Course and workshop is a combination internet
course and location workshop. Once registered you will be
enrolled in the next session of a 4-week internet course. On
September 11th, enrolled students will arrive in Bend, Oregon to
prepare for a two day intensive stock photo shoot with models on
September 12 and 13th, 2009. AND the models will sign model
releases so you can sell the images.
Take the 4-week on-line course
and then come to Oregon and shoot with adventure models for 2
days!
THE ONLINE COURSE: Designed for
photographers eager to enter into the world of
adventure and recreation stock
photography, the online section of the course will cover
everything from planning and preparing your shoot, location
scouting, models, propping, the clients and markets, self
promotion, pricing and negotiating sales, and seeking commercial
assignments. Following the two day location shoot, participants
can upload 5 images form the workshop for critique and review by
participants.
THE ON-LOCATION PHOTO SHOOT: will take place in
Central Oregon's spectacular recreational paradise. We will have
two models for each days photo sessions in the morning and again
in the evening. We may shoot any or all of the following: rock
climbing, camp scenes, canoeing, mountain biking, fly fishing,
hiking and backpacking, and all against the spectacular backdrop
of Central Oregon.
This workshop is taught by industry veteran,
Charlie Borland . Charlie has been a
professional photographer for over 25 years and has had his stock
imagery published thousands of times in advertisements,
editorial, and publishing markets. His outdoor and nature photography has
been represented by over 10 different stock photo agents and he is currently
co-owner of online stock agent Fogstock.com.
This intensive workshop will cover everything from; what
makes a good selling photo, to who buys stock photography, and how
do they use it. You will gain understanding of the types of
equipment you will need to meet what the market demands in
quality. You will learn how to think of your photography in
concepts, and to shoot for your clients, even though you may not
know those clients. You will learn how to organize and market your labor of love as well as how to approach a stock agent. The
goal is to give you a thorough understanding of what stock
photography is, to recognize a saleable photo, and which markets
will make you money.
